Feather Meal Fertilizer 12-0-0

Organic Feather Meal 12-0-0 is a slow-release organic nitrogen fertilizer made from hydrolyzed poultry feathers. It supplies 12% total nitrogen as water-insoluble keratin protein, released gradually over 3 to 4 months as soil microbes break it down — one of the longest natural nitrogen curves among common organic fertilizers.

Because the nitrogen must be digested by soil microbes before it becomes plant-available, burn risk is very low and the nitrogen resists leaching, staying in place until the crop can use it. This makes feather meal a strong fit for heavy-feeding crops, tomatoes and peppers, leafy greens, fruit trees and orchards, organic lawns, and as a compost activator. The microbial activity it drives also supports soil biology over time.

Work feather meal into the top 3–4 inches of soil 2 to 4 weeks before planting, and water in thoroughly; microbial breakdown is best in soil above 50°F. Do not place it in direct contact with seeds or young transplant roots.

CDFA registered and independently lab tested for heavy metals, with results consistently well below required limits. Wear a dust mask when measuring in enclosed areas, and work the product into the soil rather than leaving it on the surface.
