Fish Bone Meal Fertilizer 4-17-0

Organic Fish Bone Meal 4-17-0 is a CDFA-registered organic phosphate fertilizer derived from fish tankage. It delivers 17% available phosphate (P₂O₅) and 4% water-insoluble nitrogen in a single ingredient — one of the more concentrated organic granular phosphate sources available to gardeners.

Phosphate supports root development, flowering, and fruit set, making fish bone meal a strong fit for transplants, bulbs, roses, and bloom-stage tomatoes and peppers. As a marine-sourced product with a finer protein matrix, it tends to release plant-available phosphate faster than traditional bovine bone meal in warm, biologically active soils, while still feeding over a longer window. Its modest nitrogen supports a healthy canopy without pushing excess leafy growth.

Because phosphorus is immobile in soil, fish bone meal works best worked into the root zone — incorporated into the top 3–4 inches at bed prep, mixed into transplant holes, or banded below seed. Water in thoroughly; release depends on soil moisture and microbes. It is not water-soluble, so it is not suited to hydroponic systems or foliar spraying.

Independently lab tested for heavy metals, with results consistently well below required limits. Keep away from plant stems, and keep pets away from freshly applied product until it is watered in.
