Organic Elemental Sulfur Powder
Organic Elemental Sulfur Powder is a CDFA-registered, finely milled elemental sulfur (≥98% S) for lowering soil pH and supplying sulfur as a plant nutrient. The fine particle size gives soil bacteria more surface area to colonize, which speeds the conversion to plant-available sulfate.
Elemental sulfur is not directly acidic — soil bacteria oxidize it into sulfuric acid, which gradually lowers soil pH over a period of months. This makes it well suited to acid-loving plants such as blueberries, azaleas, rhododendrons, and hydrangeas, and to acidifying alkaline lawns and beds. Sulfur is also the fourth most-needed plant nutrient after nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, supporting protein synthesis and chlorophyll production, with deficiencies increasingly common on sandy and low-organic-matter soils.
Because conversion is biological, results are gradual and depend on warm, moist, well-aerated soil; calcareous (free-lime) soils resist acidification. Test soil pH before applying, do not exceed recommended single-application rates, and retest before reapplying. Sulfur powder is a flammable solid — store sealed away from heat, flame, and sparks, and apply on still days.
CDFA registered and third-party lab tested for heavy metals, with results consistently well below required limits.
